In order to get faster, I have realized that it is extremely important to train for not only strength and speed, but explosive power, coordination and core strength. I also have realized that I need to balance my training and include:
Strength and Core Training: I am incorporating the MTB strength Training System by James Wilson
Cardio Training: I’m building my cardio base by riding a road bike.
Psychological preparation: After coming back from my concussion, I learned that in the last race of the 2013 BC Cup circuit that my nerves and anxiety got the best of me, so I am working on the mental part of my racing. I am researching and implementing a variety of foundational principles from psychology and sports psychology.
