Here are some posts that I did a few years ago. The site they are on now is going to get deleted and some of the posts are pretty funny. But this was a few years ago. So don’t be surprised if the writing is kinda….. Childish.

Five years ago Caleb, Dad and I started Downhill Biking. You ride up on a chairlift just like skiing and ride down on all the trails. The bikes have big shocks and are really heavy. The trails are rated like skiing: green, (easy) blue, (Intermediate) black, (hard) double black, (expert). Most of the runs go through the trees but some go out of the trees. On some trails there are wooden man-made jumps and drops. These drops can range from one foot drops to forty foot drops. I haven’t done a forty footer yet, but I will eventually. To compete you can race against the clock or against each other. I like to go fast and do big gaps. Caleb likes to do drops and tabletops (tabletops have a jump and a flat top so if you don’t go far enough you won’t crash).

I like to play airsoft but we haven’t done that in a while. Here are some rules and history of the sport.

Airsoft is a sport or hobby where people use replicas of real guns that shoot 6 mm plastic bbs to shoot the opposite team to get them out of the game. These guns can shoot up to 600 FPS (Feet Per Second). There are three types of ways the guns are powered: battery, gas, and spring. Most of the rifles are powered using batteries to shoot it. The next one is gas powered. Most gas powered guns are hand guns or shot guns. they use compressed gas to shoot out the bbs. The last one is spring powered. You have to manually cock the gun each time to be able to shoot it. The one that I have is a gas powered.

Airsoft started in Japan in 1940. It began to be popular all across the world.

When you get shot from one of these on the bare skin, it hurts a lot. That is why we wear safety glasses and gear. But when you get shot with all of it on, you might not feel it. That is why there are referees. They can call your hit and then you have to go to a safe zone. When you are playing, and you get shot, you have to yell “HIT” and put your gun and hands up in the air so the person who shot you doesn’t shoot you again. When playing, it might be tempting to keep playing even if you get shot, but that makes it not fun for the other players. If you get caught doing this you will be kicked out.

There are many kinds of strategies or roles that you might want to use. Here are some of them: Sniper. A sniper is someone that has a high powered spring or gas rifle and can take out people from long distances. Snipers sometimes have spotters. They are people who scope out targets and tell the sniper where they are. Also a spotter has to protect the sniper from being shot from behind or on the side.

CQB (Close Quarter Combat). These are players that have small rifles or hand guns such as: MP5, M16, M4 AK-47, G36c, G36K, etc. Their job is to attack forts or an area of the place they are playing. They also can defend those places.

Support gunners. They are people who have big guns (M60 or SAW) and shoot anything that moves. They defend areas or attack areas. The guns they use are fully automatic and their magazines can hold up to 10,000 bbs.

High quality Airsoft guns can cost from $200 to $2,000 dollars. For beginners, you can buy plastic airsoft guns that cost $20 at stores like Wal Mart, Canadian Tire, and Wholesale Sports. They are much cheaper, but they break within a year of use (some break within a month). It is my one of my favorite sports and it is really FUN!!!!

I like to go hiking and tobogganing in the coulees with our friends. We like to explore in the coulees and find tobogganing trails. We found a really neat one that had lots of turns and had a big jump on it.There has been a lot of crashes on that hill and you have to have good control and know how to toboggan properly.

I like to listen to music and play drums. I haven’t played my drums for a long time but I am teaching a friend to play them and it is really fun. I want to start playing them again but I am leaning guitar and I don’t know when to play them. I am taking online lessons for guitar and I am on lesson 7 of beginners guitar.

in my spare time I like to take pictures of birds, frost and anything that says, “take a picture of me” (in a secret language that only I can understand). I went out with Grandpa and took lots of pictures of the frost. I take lots of pictures of birds at the Birds of Prey Center and of Caleb. We have a whole folder of him trying to not get his photo taken. I just bought a 1965 Camera at a thrift store for five dollars. It came in a case and I am researching it and see how much you can sell it for (not that I will sell it). It is a really neat camera and I am glad mom bought it for me.

All winter I have been doing swimming lessons and junior life guard. I finished level 6 in my swimming lessons and am going in to Bronze Cross next winter. In JLC I have been doing lots of races and throwing a rope to try and hit a ball, That will help us to throw a rope at someone to pull them in if they are drowning. We did relay races. We learned how to hook up bob (a dummy) to a life saving device. In the summer I did diving lessons. We learned how to do back flips, back dives, and role ins. This year I am to old for it. Wahh

I like learning to swim because I could be a life gaurd some day and that would be a neat job. (Just sitting around yelling at peaple to stop going head first on the slide)

This Saturday we are going to have a big airsoft battle. There are going to be 40 people there and I can’t wait. Our Captain gave us a map of the area and when we see an enemy we radio it in and they mark it down on the big map so we can know where they are. I can’t wait.

Today we took a tour of City Hall. We got there and the mayor was leading the tour! He led us into some rooms and told us about the three levels of the government: Federal, Provincial, and Municipal. I learned that the Municipal Governments focuses on specific needs of the people in that city. For each tax dollar, the Federal Government gets .51 cents, the Provincial Government gets .41 cents and the Municipal Government gets .08 cents. I was really surprised that the mayor led the tour and I had a great time.

Yes it snowed in Lethbridge. It is still snowing and it looks like Christmas. It snowed about an inch. It started this morning and it is perfect for snow balls (he he. Caleb is going to get wet). Our friend is coming over and we are going to have a snow ball fight or go tobogganing. Somtimes I don’t like snow, like when you have to shovel the drive way, but this snow was parfecto. It all melted before we had to shovel (there is still some on the grass and rocks but the drive way has none). I hope Christmas comes soon so I can start thinking about summer.

Yesterday we went to the dirt pile with two of our friends to play airsoft. It was windy and cold, but we didn’t care (that much). We said that one team (Caleb 2 and Aaryn) would try to get to a pile of dirt without getting shot. One of them would pretend to be a president or someone important. The other team (Caleb 1 and I) would try to shoot the person and the guard without getting shot. We won every time we did that. Even when I was the president. It was soooooo fun.

Ok’ I don’t know how to spell it, but I will tell you what I did that day. I woke up at 3:30 (Florida time. 1:30 our time) in Orlando, Florida. We packed up and got ready to go to the airport. We got to the airport and got on our airplane to take us to Minneapolis, Minnesota. We got there after a nice landing and waited for 40 minutes for our next plane to take us to Calgary. We got to Calgary and someone picked us up and took us to our car. We drove home and got there at around 4:00. We had supper and got into our Halloween costumes (I was a cow boy) and went trick or treating with one of our friends. We stopped at about 9:00 and went back home and went to bed. I go about a three quarters of a garbage bag full of candy. In all I got 257 pieces. The fun part was being whith Caleb and our friend, but I didn’t like the part where I had to go from house to house to house to house. But it is sure fun eating it.

Today we just came home from a youth retreat called Identity. It started Friday night at four o’clock. When we got there, there were inflatable race courses. You had to dive in a hole at the beginning, jump over four little round balls, then you had to jump over something else, dive through a little tunnel, climb up a big wall and run to the finish. We had supper and went in to sing some songs. After that we played hockey until we had to go home and go to bed at 1 a.m. The next morning, we had b. fast and headed to the E.FREE church. After singing the same songs that we did the night before we went outside to do activity’s that you signed up for when you got there. First we played ball hockey. On Friday night we won and were going to the semi finals. We lost that game and for some reason (that I don’t know, so don’t ask me about it) we got into the finals. But sadly, (sniff) we lost that game too. After waiting almost 2 hours, we go to play PAINT BALL!!!!!!!! It was soooooooooooo fun. If you got shot you were suppose to put your hands and your gun up in the air and walk back to the reloading spot. The last round, I got shot (while was trying to move to a better barricade) and put my gun and my hands up in the air like I was suppose to and someone from the other team shot me in the hand. We wore big coveralls and masks so we were all covered up except for our hands. When I got shot in the hand it hurt like CRAZY!!!!! So after that, I went and played mini golf with some of my group. Then we went in and sang again and had supper and didn’t go home until 11:45 PM. This morning we had b.fast and went back to the church and sang again. We came home and I am writing this now. One of my favorite part was the Paint Ball. I liked the paint ball because it was my first time and because you got to paint people ha ha ha. Another favorite part was the hockey because I haven’t played it in a while and because it was exuberating .(Duh) My last favorite part was the inflatible race courses because I have never done it before and it was exsiting.

I had alot of fun and I want to go back next year.

Last Saturday Mom, Caleb and I went to 40 Mile Lake to go boating with some friends of ours. When we got on the boat we put on our life jackets and went out for a spin to try out the boat. Three of the kids jumped in a tube and they went for a ride. After they were all shook up after a bumpy ride, I got to gio in the tube with Caleb and one of our friends. Finally mom wanted to go. so we hopped in with mom and went for a ride. After we all had a turn in the tube we went water skiing. I tried the water skiing but it didn’t go so well. So I tried the knee board. It was a board that had two little holes for your knees. When you were in the water (that was REALLY cold) you had to get up on the knee board on your tummy. The boat started moving and you had to try to get up on the knee board with your knees in the little holes while the boat was moving forwards (duh). I didn’t make it the first time but I made it the second time. I had lots of fun and I want to do it again.

Yesterday we went to Fort McLeod to get filmed by City TV. They filmed us doing stunts and all that sort of stuff. They asked us questions about the Lethbridge bike park being built and how it would make it easy to get to it and not have to drive all the way to Fort McLeod. Mom too pics but the computer that gets the pics out of the camera is not working. I will put photos of that up when we get the photos out of the camera. City TV will show the video of us on Thursday.

The things I will never forget about this summer are biking for a month at Silver Star. It was really fun. We went 30 days straight. It was hard but fun. We had only two or three major wipe outs. All the trails we fun excepts the green ones. It was the best summer yet.

We had a lot of fun at Silver Star. On the days that were too busy for biking, we went into Vernon Water Park. There were 9 or 10 slides and a hot tub. My favorite slide was one that you had to use a tube to do it. You had to sit in the tube and let the current take you down different parts of the slide. Some were long and steep and some were short and shallow.

We also went to Fernie and C.O.P and rode there.

It was a really fun summer and I hope the next one will be even better.

Last night Mom, Dad, Caleb and I watched National Treasure 2 and it was extraordinary. The main character’s (Ben) great-grandfather (GGF) was accused of helping to plan to kill Lincoln. While the bad guys killed Lincoln they asked his GGF to decode a treasure map. He started to do it and he heard the shot. He realized that the men that gave him the map were the men who helped plan to kill Lincoln. Ben’s GGF tried to burn the treasure map but the bad guys got it. One hundred and twenty years later some other guy came out with a list of people of who wanted to killed Lincoln. Ben’s GGF was on the list. He wanted to prove that his GGF did not do it. The only way to do that was to find some sort of treasure. He started to look for it. Ben was going all over the world looking for the clues to find the treasure. He even kidnapped the president of the U.S.A. to look at the president’s secret book. In the end he got the treasure and proved his GGF did not plan to kill Lincoln. It was a great movie and this page would be full if wrote all the great parts and the details.

Last week Caleb, Mom and I went to Fort Macleod for a field trip. When we got there, we watched a movie about the North West Mounted Police that was half an hour long. Some people who worked there did a play about the peace treaty with the First Nations. From there we went outside to do a reenactment. Half of us were the whiskey traders that made fake whiskey to poison the First Nations. l was chosen to be a whiskey trader and we hid out at a tent and waited for the NWMP to come and take us to prison. After we served our time in prison. We went to a tepee and some first nations told us stories. We played a game with them that was to train us to hunt. Four people lined up and we all had five spears. Two people sat across from each other and threw little hoops that we had throw the spear through. After that we had lunch and went to a ball and danced. We went for a walk down to the river and saw some buffalo. Then we went home. It was really fun and I learned a lot.

Our guitar is not working. Caleb and dad took it apart to see what was wrong. There was wire that got pulled out of the solder that it was in. Now we have to solder it back on. Dad bought special solder to solder it back on.

Here are some links that I used to learn how to solder.

http://www.aaroncake.net/electronics/solder.htm

This is what we are going to do:

Get all the soldering stuff ready
Clean the needle with steal wool
Heat the needle up
Put a little bit of solder on the tip
Solder until there is a little ball of it on the joint
Wait for it to cool down
Clean it up again
It worked well and it was fun. I learned that you can fix anything with the right knowledge and tools.

It feels like summer out here. It is 20 and sunny. Even though it is still spring, it feels like summer. I can’t wait for my birthday, biking and doing all the summer stuff (like shooting Caleb with a water gun HE HE). My birthday is only two days away and I can’t wait for it. We are going to have a few friends over for supper, and Aaryn and I will go play airsoft at the church.

Monday, we got home from Edmonton. When we got to Edmonton, we went to bed because it was late and I was tired. The next day we went to the Boyles to play. We played on the WEE. Then we had a snowball fight. I was by myself and silly boy and Aaron were on a team. I built a big snow fort. It was 4 feet tall! Evan came home and he was on my team. The Jared came and he was on my team too. The enemy attacked and we whooped them. We took one of them hostage and held him down and threw snow balls at him. HA HA HA. We all went inside and played guitar hero on the WEE. It was getting late and we watched The Borne Supremacy. It was 12 when we went to bed. in the morning we played more WEE and went to G and G’s 50th anniversary party. It was longggggggggggggggggggggggg, but the food was good. We went to bed and went to our old friends house and had another party. We went to mom’s old house to see what it looked like and then we went to bed and the next day we went home.

Yesterday dad and I got home from the spring retreat. Some kids from Lighthouse came. The older kids that were in the 212 came too. We all piled on to a school bus and headed off to Crowsnest Bible Camp. On the way we all talked. The trip took 2 hours. When we got there, the first thing we did was pick our cabins. All the boys went in one and all the girls went in the other one. All the grade 6 to 8 went in one room and all the grade 9 to 12 went in another room. I got a top bunk. We got there at 7:30. They gave us snacks and we sung songs and Brad gave a speech. Then we played until 11:00. I went to bed becouse I was tired. At 1:00 all the other boys came in and woke me up. They got ready for bed and fell asleep. I didn’t fall asleep until 2 in the morning. I woke up at 7:00 and went for breakfast. After that, Brad gave a speech again about times that God saved us from injury or death. Then some of the other kids play a paper bag game where they had to stand on one foot and try to pick up the bag with your teeth. It was funny. I went to the cabin to read Archies that they had stashed all over the camp. I went to see how the game was doing. Then we had lunch. After that I played risk and I lost. WAAAAAAA After I went to play risk again and I lost again. WAAAAAAA Then we went and had supper. After Brad gave another speech about how God is good. In the alent show that followed, Brad and this other kid made this song called, I Am Man. It was really funny. Then we went and sat in the sauna. It was hot!! some people had to run and get some cold water so we wouldn’t dehydrate After I ran in my wet swimsuit to my cabin. The weather was freezing. there was snow and it was mines 5. I took a shower and went to bed. Dad woke me up and I got dressed and went for breakfast. I had to wash dishes after that so I didn’t get to clean up the cabin. I packed up and got on the bus and went home. It was a great weekend.

Yesterday dad went for a run. We went but we did not run. We biked. It was fun. While dad ran behind us we rode on things on the street. We went near a construction site and there was a pile of wood that the people left and we jumped off it. That part was fun. Now the hard part. As we were going back. The wind was against us and it was blowing hard. Dad wanted to go a different way that was going through loose dirt. For him it wasn’t that bad, but for us it was bad. Plus it was uphill. It was really hard.

Today we went on a tour of the Lethbridge Herald. The first room we went to smelled really bad. They make flyers for companies. The flyer he showed us was of a car. The second room was a editing room where they edited the photos. The third room was the printing room. It was really loud. There was this big machine that printed the paper. They used long rolls of paper. Our tour guide said the paper roll was so long it could reach Montanta. It was a neat tour and now I understand why the paper is so expensive.

Today we went to the church to help with the pancake breakfast. The church does it for the students that have to do exams next week and don’t have food. There are three burners and I help flip the pancakes. We have a counter that counts all the people that come. Today we had 42 people. That is a lot conpared to yesterday. We got 14 people. We will be doing this for the whole week and I can’t wait till tomorrow.

Yesterday the Boyles left. They were here three days which is too short. We did alot of things like playing hockey out side on the street. We had two nets and the teams were Jared, Evan and their dad. Our team was Dad, Caleb, Aaron and me. It was good but the ball kept on going on people driveways. After we played, we went for a slurppy. After that we played football on the tramp. The teams were Jared and me against Evan, Aaron and Caleb, Evan couldn’t score. Then we after we biked on our jumps that we made. Evan went on dads old down hill bike, Jared went on dads cross contry bike and Aaron went on the BMX bike. Right before we went to bed we had a pillow fight at 11:00 PM. I tried to sleep but they always hit me with a pillow. The next day we went rock climbing. We bouldered and climbed. They were really good at it. We played 007 when we got home. We also watched movies and Corner Gas. It was really fun and I can’t wait till they come again.

Zoom!!! There he is. There he goes. Rushing down a mountain at top speed on a bike. Dad, Caleb and I go down hill biking. That is where we take a chair lift up and bike down. It is really fun and I am going to tell you what I like about it. I like biking because it Is fast, dangerous and fun.

I like to go fast. I just point my bike down and let ‘er rip. Sometimes I have to slow down because of a stunt or corner. I like the air bowing in my face. It is a challenge to see how fast you really can go without wiping out. If you go really fast, you can get lots of air off a jump.

The bad thing about biking is it is really dangerous. You could wipe out really good and hurt yourself. but we have armor (not knight armor, that would be too heavy.) The danger gives me a sense of adventure and I like to be extreme.

Down hill biking is really fun. You get to do big drops and jumps and going up on the chair lift gives you a good view. the most important thing about biking is having fun and hanging out with Dad and Caleb.

Extreme biking is my favorite sport becouse it is fast, dangerous and fun. I am going to down hill bike until I die and if you don’t think it is the best sport in the world there is something wrong with you.

Today I was looking at how to make a zip line. Dad said that we could make one in our back yard. It would go on the side of our house. It would start at the balcony and end near the fence. We would need a rope, pully, a bar to hang on to and a person who is crazy enough to try it. (That’s me.) I can’t wait to make it.

Where. In Calgary.

When. March 3,

Why. Went to look at an Air soft gun. He told us about the air soft clubs. We looked at the kjw berretta mp elite a1

How. We drove.

I thought that I would spend aloto money and we would only play it at the church. If we played it out side in our yard someone could call the police because it looks like a real gun. I am still thinking about it.

We went to the school yesterday to take a writing class with Sigmund Brouwer. He is the author of lots of books that I like. We went there to try to learn something about writing. He is from Alberta. It lasted 5 hours!! But he was funny. He played music and we had to guess what the band was.

The Galt Museum

On November the 13 we went to the Galt Museum. We took a tour on the history of cameras. There was this dark room that we went in to and we saw a photo upsidedown.
