Photography-Lines Assignment 1

February 8, 2012

In photography class at school, we needed to take four pictures that used lines that define or separate an object. Lines can lead an eye out of a picture or they can lead your eye into a picture. The different lines were: Vertical lines, Horizontal lines, Curved lines. and Oblique lines. Here are my top three picks.

You can see that there are many lines in different places in this picture. Some on the roof, the long Vertical railing through the center, and even the reflection of the roof on the railing. The railing leads your eyes into the picture.

Even though it looks like these panels are curving in, they are actually straight. These Horizontal lines draw your eye to the right side of the picture.

I’m trying to capture Diagonal lines with the light post going through the picture from bottom right to top left.

The Curved lines in the weights in this picture draw the eye towards the back of the picture towards the wall and the other stand in the background.

The black crossing in between the tiles creates Oblique lines. There is also some nice color and texture in this picture.
